The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), has commenced the construction of six elevator units across six departments at its Depok campus, namely the Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. This development reflects FTUI’s commitment to improving accessibility and providing a more inclusive, safe, and comfortable learning environment for the entire academic community.

Prior to the construction phase, FTUI appointed Lemtek UI to prepare comprehensive detailed design documents. Following the construction tender process, PT Tigamas General Contractor was selected as the executing contractor. On 9 December 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the elevator construction site at the Department of Civil Engineering. The event was attended by Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, PhD, Dean of FTUI; Prof. Widjojo Adi Prakoso, PhD, Chair of the FTUI Board of Professors; Prof. Dr. Asep Handaya, Head of Lemtek UI; Dr. Achmad Hery Fuad, the project architect; as well as representatives of the contractor.

The construction of the six elevators will be carried out simultaneously with an estimated duration of six months. The project will be supervised by Lemtek UI, which has been appointed by FTUI as the Supervising Consultant, under the leadership of Ir. Setyo Supriyadi, MSi.
