Redesigning the FTUI Engineering Center for the Future
The Institute for Technology at the University of Indonesia (LEMTEK UI) is currently carrying out the Detail Engineering Design (DED) for the revitalization of the New Engineering Center Building at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. This stage is a critical step prior to physical construction, ensuring that the building design accommodates academic needs while enhancing safety and comfort for its users.
The planning emphasizes space optimization, such as converting the rooftop of Building B into classrooms. Refaçade works are also included, aimed at refreshing the building’s appearance while supporting studies on indoor comfort. Furthermore, the project covers landscape design that connects the area between Buildings A and B with the newly constructed Engineering Center landscape, along with the courtyard arrangement as an open space for students. The results will be compiled into technical documents in the form of Tender Documents, which will serve as the basis for the procurement of construction contractors.
By involving experts in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, MEP, and landscape, LEMTEK UI ensures that every aspect of the design is well-integrated. The revitalization of the Engineering Center is expected not only to deliver a fresher and more modern appearance but also to strengthen the building’s role as a hub for academic activities, research, and interaction among the academic community at University of Indonesia.
