Technical Study and Engineering Design for Rainwater Management Facilities in Jakarta by Lemtek UI
The Institute for Technology at the University of Indonesia (Lemtek UI) has been appointed by the Jakarta Provincial Water Resources Agency to conduct an Engineering Study and prepare the Detail Engineering Design (DED) for the development of rainwater management facilities across the Jakarta area. This study aims to establish a technical foundation for stormwater infrastructure planning—covering retention, detention, and infiltration systems—to mitigate urban flooding risks and preserve groundwater recharge in highly built-up areas.
The multidisciplinary team of Lemtek UI, comprising experts in civil engineering, geotechnics, hydrology, and environmental engineering, will carry out a comprehensive engineering assessment of geotechnical characteristics, soil permeability, drainage capacity, and spatial hydrological modeling. The analysis and design optimization results will be presented in priority site maps, detailed engineering drawings, and a measurable Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and Cost Estimates (RAB) ready for field implementation.
The project commenced with a contract signing ceremony between the Jakarta Provincial Water Resources Agency and Lemtek UI, represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Handaya Saputra, M.Eng. This collaboration reflects the Government of Jakarta’s trust in Lemtek UI’s capability to deliver engineering solutions grounded in scientific research. The outputs of this project are expected to serve as a technical reference for future urban rainwater management infrastructure development in Jakarta.
